Description of the Walk

  1. Starting Point: Brook Car Park Begin your journey at Brook Car Park, a convenient starting point with ample parking space. Before setting off, take a moment to enjoy the panoramic views of the coastline and the fresh sea breeze.
  2. Heading West Along the Beach From the car park, head down the footpath to the beach then turn to the west (right) along the beach. The beach can be variable depending on the weather, from clear sand to stones, so wear appropriate footwear. At low tide the beach is wide and open, making it an ideal place for a leisurely stroll.
  3. Exploring the Coastline As you continue westward, keep an eye out for interesting rock formations and the diverse marine life that inhabit the tidal pools. The beach here is rich in geological features, offering plenty of opportunities for keen photographers and rock pool enthusiasts.
  4. Approaching Hanover Point After about 1km, you will reach Hanover Point. This area is famous for its numerous dinosaur footprints preserved in the rock formations. The best time to view these footprints is at low tide when the water recedes to reveal these ancient relics. Take your time to explore and marvel at the footprints, imagining the colossal creatures that once roamed this very shore millions of years ago.
  5. Enjoying the Scenic Views Hanover Point also offers stunning views of the coastline, both east towards Brook and west towards Compton Bay. The juxtaposition of the rugged cliffs and the expansive sea is truly breathtaking. It’s a great spot to take a break, have a picnic, and soak in the natural beauty.
  6. Return Journey Once you have explored Hanover Point and its prehistoric wonders, retrace your steps along the beach back to Brook Car Park. The return journey offers a different perspective, with the changing light and tide conditions providing a fresh view of the landscape.
