Starting Point: Ryde

Your journey begins in the vibrant town of Ryde, known for its long pier and sandy beaches. From the pier, follow the promenade eastwards along the seafront. As you leave Ryde behind, the path leads you past the Appley Tower, a striking Victorian landmark, and the lush Appley Park.

Seaview

Continuing east, the route takes you through the quaint village of Seaview. This picturesque spot is perfect for a short break, with its charming cafes and the serene Seaview Bay. Enjoy views of the Solent and the mainland beyond as you walk along the shoreline.

Puckpool Park

A little further along, you’ll pass through Puckpool Park, a former Victorian fortification now transformed into a pleasant public park. The park offers beautiful gardens, a tea room, and historic remains that are worth exploring.

St. Helen’s

The path then leads you to the village of St. Helen’s, where you’ll find a scenic village green and a historic church. Take a moment to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and perhaps visit the Duver, a National Trust-managed area of sand dunes and grassland that is a haven for wildlife.

Priory Bay

From St. Helen’s, the route continues along the coast to Priory Bay. This secluded, sandy beach is framed by wooded cliffs and offers a peaceful spot to rest and take in the natural beauty.

Bembridge Harbour

As you approach Bembridge, you’ll pass by Bembridge Harbour, a bustling area filled with boats and maritime activity. The harbour is an excellent spot for birdwatching, with many wading birds and other wildlife frequenting the area.

Destination: Bembridge

Your walk concludes in the village of Bembridge, the easternmost point of the Isle of Wight. Bembridge boasts a charming array of shops, cafes, and restaurants. Key landmarks include the Bembridge Windmill, the only surviving windmill on the island, and the RNLI Bembridge Lifeboat Station, which offers insights into the vital rescue operations in the area.

There is ample parking at the council car parks at Ryde. Bembridge has a small car park at the Lifeboat station where this route ends.
