Three Forts Walk

Golden Hill Fort, Fort Albert & Fort Victoria

This is a circular walk that can be started at either Yarmouth or at Fort Victoria where there is ample parking and facilities such as toilets, cafes and pubs. If travelling by bus, then Yarmouth bus station is the best place to start from.

Leaving Yarmouth, head toward the old railway track and head south towards Freshwater. The route is flat and will be largely dry unless there has been a lot of rain!

At the end of the track, take a right over the bridge and head up the lane, past the church and Red Lion Pub.

Cross the road at the end of the lane and take the path that runs along the back of Freshwater village, turning right when you get to the school.

Follow this path up to Golden Hill Fort, and along the lane to the road where you will need to cross to the left, then along Monks Lane.

This takes you up to the top above Fort Albert. Take the path to the right at the holiday park entrance and you will come across the viewpoint across to Hurst Castle.

Continue through the woods of Fort Victoria, and from there along the beach to Yarmouth Harbour and back to the start of the circular walk
